Building I&E Resources & Orgs

These I&E Resources in iHQ will set you up for success in Innovation & Entrepreneurship

I&E Departments, Labs, and Centers in iHQ:

FLOOR 5

The Legatum Center empowers the MIT community to accelerate social and economic progress across the developing world through innovation-driven entrepreneurship.

FLOOR 6

The MIT Deshpande Center for Technological Innovation empowers some of MIT’s most talented researchers to make a difference in the world by developing innovative technologies in the lab and bringing them to the marketplace in the form of breakthrough products and new companies. In turn, those innovations can help solve large and daunting problems in health, information technology, energy and other fields.

FLOOR 6

The MIT Innovation Initiative is a small team of unceasingly inquisitive, data-obsessed MIT-ers tasked by The Office of the Provost to develop and strengthen the innovation & entrepreneurial community at MIT…and beyond. We’ve built an innovation infrastructure to inspire, support, and connect the most innovative people, programs, places, and partnerships at MIT—stewarding the innovation process from idea to impact.

FLOOR 4

MIT Sandbox provides seed funding, mentorship, and tailored entrepreneurship education that empowers undergraduate and graduate student innovators to explore ideas, take risks, and prepare to launch.

FLOOR 6

MIT VMS supports innovation and entrepreneurial activity throughout the MIT community by matching prospective and experienced entrepreneurs with skilled volunteer mentors. We use a team mentoring approach with groups of 3 to 4 mentors sitting with the entrepreneur(s) in sessions that provide practical, day-to-day professional advice and coaching.

FLOOR 6

We offer programs that provide researchers with support and seed micro-grants to accelerate the exploration of potential applications for a technology. Researchers, engineers, and others working on STEM-related technology may enroll and engage in a customer discovery process for their innovation.
