Opportunity

Hosted by: Fuse

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Monday, March 13, 2017

In this challenge, you will be seeking solutions for creation of a universal adapter for transporting X-ray imaging plates through a scanner.

Have you ever had an X-ray taken at the dentist or hospital? Traditionally, these X-rays were entirely film based and required a lengthy processing time. Within the past decade, X-rays are making the move from film to digital, but many of the scanners require proprietary plates.

GE created the CRxVision scanner that uses specially designed imaging plates that are carried using a ferromagnetic backing. This removes the need for rollers to physically touch the plates on the front side resulting in a greatly improved image quality. However, in order to use this scanner you need to use proprietary imaging plates.

The hope is to create a system that allows imaging plates of any size or brand, including non-metallic plates, to be used in the CRxVision scanner.
