Fred Wilson SB ’83, managing partner of Union Square Ventures and founder of Flatiron Partners, will give a presentation as part of the General Doriot Lecture Series on April 13.

About Fred Wilson
Fred Wilson has been a venture capitalist since 1987. He currently is a managing partner at Union Square Ventures and also founded Flatiron Partners. In addition to earning his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from MIT, he is an alumnus of the MBA program at The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.

About the General Georges Doriot Lectureship Series
A lectureship series recently established by Michael M. Koerner SB ‘49 in honor of General Georges Doriot. A friend and mentor to Mr. Koerner, General Doriot is considered to be the father of venture capitalism. Along with former MIT President Karl Compton, he founded one of the earliest venture capital firms which encouraged private sector investments in business run by soldiers returning from World War II. The lectureship will highlight topics related to venture creation, innovation, and venture capital.
