Hosted by: DesignX
DesignX is an inter-disciplinary program that combines academic discourse, data-informed design, and an embrace of entrepreneurship to develop and launch new technologies and businesses directed toward innovation in design, cities and the built environment.
They are a launching pad for design innovation in the SA+P (School of Architecture + Planning) community and indeed all of MIT; helping students, faculty and staff, move from idea to tangible product or service.
Each year, DesignX’s flagship Venture Accelerator works with 8 selected startups focused on innovation in design, cities and the built environment.
The program includes:
- 2 academic courses (IAP and Spring semesters)
- Business and design mentorship
- $15,000 equity-free pre-seed funding
- Legal support
- Connections with industry and public sector agencies
At least ONE founding member of a team must be a current student, researcher, faculty or staff member in SA+P. The remainder of the team may include participants from other schools at MIT, alumni, or unaffiliated members.
