About Hannah

Dr. Hannah Gavin is a microbiologist broadly interested in molecular microbiology and microbial ecology, with a soft spot for bacteria in the Vibrio genus. Dr. Gavin, who originally hails from North Carolina, earned a BS in Biochemistry from UNC Chapel Hill and a PhD in Microbiology from Northwestern University before moving to the Boston area for post-doctoral research at MIT. She currently splits her time between studying marine bacteriophages at MIT and managing the Microbial Sciences Initiative at Harvard University. She is also an instructor, in various forms, for courses at MIT, Harvard, and (starting in fall 2021) Tufts University.
