About Julia

Julia Sokol is a post-doctoral associate at the Global Engineering and Research (GEAR) Lab at MIT. Her interests lie at the intersection of mechanical engineering and environmental sustainability. Her current research focuses on designing and prototyping water- and energy-efficient irrigation systems. Other current and past projects have involved urban-scale modeling of building energy use, and wave-powered seawater desalination. Julia completed her M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at MIT. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring -- mountains, oceans, cities, and everything in between.
