About Bianca

Bianca is a PhD candidate at the Media Lab, where she explores bio-inspired materials design. She works on bio-inspired optical structures for generating structural color, and laser processing of materials. She has worked on holographic video devices, synthesis of quantum dots, and responsive material systems for mediated cell growth. She is also interested in scientific communication and representation for education and public engagement. She graduated with a BS & MS in Materials Science & Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania in 2014. Outside of lab, she serves as a Graduate Community fellow developing and organizing programs for graduate women, as a Graduate Resident Advisor, and as a mentor for Minds Matter in Boston.
