About Charisse

Charisse is interested in novel therapeutics and is creating a platform that integrates functional genetics, molecular and cell biology, and high throughput chemical screening to rapidly discover novel compound-biological target combinations that can kill malaria parasites. Her long-term goal is to enable the development of safe antimalarial drugs with durable clinical efficacy for malaria prevention, treatment, and eventually elimination. She carried out her Master's degree in South Korea and her PhD in Melbourne. Outside of science, she enjoys visiting places, learning about different cultures, and experimenting with food.
