About Kayla

Kayla Roberta Storme is an NSF Fellow pursuing a PhD in Chemistry with focus on synthesizing polymers for membrane-based gas separations, which may someday reduce the U.S.'s carbon dioxide emissions up to 16%. She is co-advised by Professor Tim Swager (Chemistry) and Professor Zach Smith (Chemical Engineering), involved with Women+ in Chemistry, and an advocate for students within her department and the institute through various positions centered on diversity, equity, and inclusion. In warmer months, she likes to ride her Honda motorcycle (including long trips to visit her loved ones in the Midwest). Otherwise, she spends her free time sewing, painting and drawing, and playing video games. Fun fact: she originally wanted to be an artist!
